What a start to the year! And yes, I’m totally talking about the weather. As the rain gods dance while I’m writing this, I run the risk of seeming tone deaf if I don’t mention it!
That’s the thing about a local community. We can connect on everything from weather events to traffic patterns, layoffs at local companies to the launch of the latest start up. We can chit chat about Bay Area festival favorites and trendy new hot spots, Napa Valley wineries, Santa Rosa breweries and let’s not forget Alameda distilleries. We get that Bay to Breakers is more than just a marathon, and you don’t have to be a sports fan to cheer on the Warriors, Niners, Giants, A’s, Sharks and even the Earthquakes!
Our chapter’s emphasis for 2023 is to strengthen our community, which is made up of the diverse professional disciplines and personal experiences of SF Bay Area IABC members like you. We also want to help you make connections with Bay Area communicators and companies, all in support of your career mobility. (read more about this vision).
Until then, here are a couple of events open to you in January:
Join a Member Meet & Greet
You should have received a personal invitation from me to join an informal, virtual meeting with a small group of people in January or February. You can still sign up – indicate your preferred date and time.
Member Discount at ALI’s 10th Annual Internal Communications Conference – West
We’re pleased to offer our members a $500 discount for the latest Advanced Learning Institute (ALI) conference in San Francisco, January 31-February 2. I’ve attended these conferences in the past and they’re a great way to kick off the year with new ideas and plenty of networking! Learn more and register. Use the code SFIABC to receive the $500 discount.
Expect to hear more from me in 2023. Our board meets at the end of the month to discuss how we can best serve you and grow our community. Until then, stay safe and warm, and enjoy those rainy day indoor activities that nourish your spirit!
Happy New Year!
